REVIEW USTaylor Thatcher graduated from Ohio University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She moved from Ohio to Pittsburgh in 2016 to work with D/deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients at a private residential school. The school specializes in working with children and adolescents with hearing loss, in conjunction with behavioral and emotional needs, intellectual disabilities, and other diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder. She was with the school for 5 years before joining the Hearing Unlimited family.
Taylor is dedicated to continuing her education. She plans to apply for her graduate program to earn her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) In the meantime, Taylor continues learning through certified online courses and webinars. Taylor is committed to providing accessibility, language/communication, options, and perspectives to everyone she meets. Taylor is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). She also has years of training and experience with Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), an augmentative and alternative communication system created to help convey thoughts and needs for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Taylor is a problem-solver; she’s willing to try different approaches to a problem or concern to see the variety of outcomes, and determine what is the most beneficial and successful for her patients.
When Taylor is not at Hearing Unlimited, you can find her waitressing at her second job. On her occasional days off, she enjoys exploring Pittsburgh with her friends, solving her Rubik’s cube (in under two minutes), and playing video games. When she gets the chance, Taylor loves traveling back to Ohio to see her family and friends, pets included.
